    A simple fact: for every drug that comes out, a few thousands candidates are scrapped from the board. It took more than 10 years, ~500 millions $ just to do that. A researcher can work his entire life on ONE drug.Those thousands that are scrapped usually are proven to be either: useless or too toxic to be worthy. All by animal testings. The remaining few MAY be too toxic to be worthy, too. But you have eliminate a lot of worthless crap.
